New Posters Old Objectives for Today |
The era of posters began about two centuries ago and now posters became
an attribute of our daily life: we meet them at home, in the street and
almost in any other public places with free access. Of course, when
someone talks about a poster, it is one of those well-known picture
posters, that everyone got used to see around. But there are many
different subjects and items and goods that may be depicted on posters.
For example, concert posters, which may be easily confused with show
bills or, perhaps, just called a bit differently, are dedicated to some
particular cultural event or happenings that must become public.
Another huge niche for poster manufacturing industry are movies and
everything about movie stars, their fashion and their way of life.
Indeed, film posters are the most developed and highly lucrative branch
in poster production around the world. Among all photo posters, those
with actors and actresses are best sells and the best thing about them
is that it is possible to sell them before a premiere screening, in the
course of a film distribution cycle around the globe and even after
that period, when every buff would like to have something memorable
about that movie for some longer time or just for his or her private
poster collection.
As to poster collecting, there are very many contradictory notes, pro
and contra, but the fact is last century posters are hits at the world
renowned auctions in all parts of the world now. The last trend calls
for buying posters in bulk, get them signed, in case it is possible,
and then kept in hide for a few decades while their prices must grow
before their next life. Looks ridiculous, but for those people who
possess some older masterpieces of this kind of visual art it is also a
real fun to get hundreds of thousands for a thirty or forty inch piece
of faded paper. Memorabilia became the game for investors of our times,
who do not trust in money any more and prefer to preserve their savings
as something of real value. That is the main reason why people are
hunting for objects d’art every day and are ready to do that
over and over again.
Of course, there are no old big posters like those hanging on the walls
today, but in the old times posters were unique and their use was
intended for certain places only. Moreover, in some places early movie
theaters very renting posters and after some time they had to return
posters back, which is normal from recycling point of view. The present
day facilities for printing posters for mass consumption are working
for wholesalers and retailers at the same time, making no big
difference in between these two. This last fact became possible due to
the cost reduction per any poster as a result of new processing,
printing, imaging and distributing technologies that we have in use at
present time even in our homes. |
